I’m Millie, the founder of Cross wires, and my educational journey has been quite unique. After years of struggling with misunderstandings around my dyslexia and ADHD, I found a true passion for learning that challenged conventional teaching methods. My goal is to offer personalized educational support, ensuring that every child and young person enjoys a positive learning experience that fosters their confidence and life skills.

Currently, I work three days a week at a charity hub supporting children who have been excluded from mainstream education, opted for home schooling, or have mental health needs. This role allows me to provide tailored academic and pastoral support, helping students build confidence, resilience, and essential skills for success.

In my previous roles within school support, I have worked closely with students from a wide range of backgrounds and needs. I have experience adapting lessons to meet individual learning styles and supporting children who face barriers to their education, including those with additional learning needs or social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

I hold Level 3 qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, and Business Administration. I have also completed extensive training in safeguarding, mental health first aid, equality and diversity, and SEN-specific interventions. In addition, I have experience serving as a school governor, giving me valuable insight into educational leadership and policy.

As Chair of the Neurodiversity Staff Group at West Sussex County Council, I advocate for neurodivergent individuals by sharing lived experiences and promoting reasonable adjustments across the organisation.

As a tutor, my goal is to create a supportive and personalised learning environment where every student can build essential life skills and develop a genuine love of learning.

💼 Study Support & Life Skills:

CV writing & job application help – For teens and young adults preparing for work or apprenticeships.
Homework help & organisation – Supporting learners to manage school life more independently.

🌱 SEN-Sensitive Support:
I specialise in working with neurodivergent students and those with SEND, EHCPs, or those feeling lost or left behind in mainstream education. Every session is adapted to suit the learner – whether that means using visuals, breaking things down step by step, or just being a calm and encouraging presence.

🧑‍🏫 How I Teach
At Crosswires Tutoring, my teaching approach is personalised, patient, and flexible to meet each student’s unique needs and learning style.
I believe every student learns best when taught in the way that suits them personally. That’s why I tailor lessons to match how each student learns, whether that’s through visuals, hands-on activities, discussion, or written practice.

🏆 What I want to achieve
My goal is to help students develop skills they can carry with them throughout life—critical thinking, problem-solving, exam techniques, and confidence—so learning becomes something they enjoy and can continue independently.

I focus on building a genuine love for learning by making lessons engaging, relevant, and connected to students’ interests and goals.
For learners with SEND or neurodivergence, I adapt methods to be calm, supportive, and paced to their needs, creating a safe, encouraging environment where questions are welcomed and progress is celebrated.
I also work closely with parents and carers to share progress, set realistic goals, and provide advice on how to support learning at home.
